Back to School Immunizations

Is your child getting ready to enter school?  Please check with the school that they will be attending for a list of required immunizations for school.  Recommendations and requirements for school- age immunizations have recently been updated.  Children entering kindergarten as of September 2010 are required to have 2 varicella immunizations.  Children entering Seventh Grade are now required to have a TDAP booster.  If your child does not have the required immunizations by state law they may be excluded from school until they receive them.    Please be advised that the clinics in the last few weeks of August tend to be the busiest, so get your child up to date on their immunizations as early as possible!  Not sure what they need?  Contact your local school district or speak to the Immunization Nurse at the Union County Health Department by calling 937-642-2053.
