Each year, the Union County Health Department joins in the celebration of National Public Health Week, April 7-13. The Union County Health Department is charged with protecting and improving the health of all Union County residents. Along with the many services we are required to provide, we communicate with our residents, community leaders, political figures and community agencies to identify what is needed. Whether directly or indirectly, you and your family benefit from our programs of immunization, inspection and health education.
This year the Health Department has several featured events taking place April 7-13. Monday, April 7th, is a Cancer Screening Clinic from 4:30-6:00 PM. Appointments are available by calling (937) 642-0801. Tuesday from 8:00 –9:00 AM free HIV testing is available and no appointment is needed. Wednesday, from 8:30-11:30 AM there will be a Child Immunization Clinic and no appointment is needed. The final event is a free car seat check Thursday, April 10th, from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Richwood Fire Department.
Your health department is a consistent resource of preventive health services for you and your family and we strive toward healthy beginnings, healthy families, healthy environments and healthy communities. These programs include: immunization programs; cancer screening; family planning; home visits; smoking prevention programs; car seat checks; and various health promotion and education programs.
The Health Department also covers environmental health issues including
recycling and litter prevention, programs for safe water and sewage, food
and vending safety inspections, radon testing and animal bite inspections
for the control of rabies.
