Back to School Shots

Is your child getting ready to enter kindergarten or go back to school?  Remember to put “Back to School Immunizations” on your check list! If your child does not have the required immunizations, by state law, they may be excluded from school until they receive them. Please see below for our clinic information and current recommendations and state requirements.

Back to school shots are available by appointment only through our childhood immunizations clinic and adult health clinicPlease call (937) 645-2052 today to make your appointment. Evening hours are available and no one is turned away for inability to pay. Most private insurances and Medicaid accepted.

Vaccine Recommendations for the 2017-2018 School Year

Kindergarten Students: Children entering kindergarten are required to have 2 varicella immunizations.

Seventh Grade Students: Students entering Seventh Grade are now required to have a TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis) booster and a meningococcal (A,C,W, and Y) (MCV4) vaccines.

12th Grade Students: Students entering 12th grade are required to have two doses of meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine. (If your 12 th grade student has never received a dose of meningococcal (MCV4) only one dose is required at age 16 or older.)

The Union County Health Department offers a variety of clinics to assist our community with their health care needs. All of our clinics accept Medicaid, CareSource and Molina. For those with no insurance all of our clinics offer a sliding fee scale based on family size and income. No one is turned away for inability to pay. We also accept most private insurances.

Adult Health Services Clinic

Adult Health Services Clinic is for individuals whom are 11 years of age or older. This clinic operates on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Appointments are required. More....

Childhood Immunization Clinic

About Our Child Immunization Clinic

The Union County Health Department is committed to providing immunization services to all children birth through 18 years of age. Our childhood immunization clinic is by appointment only. Children 11 years and older can also be immunized during our Adult Clinic by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 - 9 am and 3 - 4 pm and Thursdays and Fridays from 8 - 9 am. 

To make an appointment, please call 937-642-2053. We will need your child's shot record to be able to provide vaccinations.


Shots Available at Child Immunization Clinic

DTaP (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
Hep B (Hepatitis B)
Hep A (Hepatitis A)
HIB (Haemophilus Influenza)
HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
Influenza (Flu)
MMR (Measle, Mumps, and Rubella)
Pneumococcal (Pneumonia)
Varicella (Chickenpox)

We offer combination vaccines to reduce the number of shots your child needs.


Cost for Immunizations

Cost for child immunizations varies depending on vaccine needed, the child's insurance status, and the family's financial situation. We do offer vaccines through the "Vaccines for Children" (VFC) program. The VFC program allows us to provide required vaccines for free or at reduced cost for children who are uninsured, under-insured or covered by any medicaid insurance.  We accept most private insurance plans. A sliding fee scale is available to those without insurance and no child is turned away for inability to pay for vaccinations.

Richwood Clinic - Northern Union County Fire Department, 602 N. Franklin Street, Richwood, Ohio

Fourth Thursday of each month* 
9am - 11am (by appointment only, call 937- 642-2053)

*Clinics are closed if the day of the week/month falls on a holdiay. We apologize for any inconvenience.  


Back to School Immunizations

Recommended child and teen immunizations are available year round. However, the Union County Health Department is offering Back to School Shot clinics at Fairbanks, Marysville and North Union schools. Shots are by appointment.
