New Parent Services

Bringing a new baby home can be both joyful and exhausting. In Union County, we want all new parents to know you are not alone. The Union County Health Department offers a number of services to support parents as they face many new challenges. Many of these services are free, and all are designed to focus on you and your concerns about the health of your baby.

Breastfeeding Consultation

Free breastfeeding education and support from our Certified Lactation Counselor is available to all parents in Union County. We can provide guidance, support, or just answer your questions.  

 

Car Seat Safety

Free car seat safety checks are available to all parents, grandparents or caregivers in Union County. Free car seats are available for income eligible families. 

 

Developmental Screening

A free online child development screening tool is available to all families in Union County. The tool is quick, easy and a fun way for you to get to know your baby through a different lens.

 

Newborn Home Visit

 A free home visit from a registered nurse is available to all new parents. This visit is done before the baby is 8 weeks old. Our nurse will check both the health of the mother and baby and focus on any concerns you may have.

 

Nutrition Assistance

The Women, Infant and Chirldren (WIC) program provides nutritious foods that promote good health for pregnant women, women who just had a baby, breastfeeding moms, and children up to age 5. 

 

Prenatal Smoking Cessation

Free help is available to support your goal to quit smoking during pregnancy and after the baby is born. A tobacco treatment specialist is available to provide counseling to those caring for baby in the home. 

 

Safe Sleep 

Free Pack N' Plays are available for families in need of a safe sleep environment for their infant. Safe sleep education is available to all families.

Clinics

The Union County Health Department offers a variety of clinics to assist our community with their health care needs. All of our clinics accept Medicaid, CareSource and Molina. For those with no insurance all of our clinics offer a sliding fee scale based on family size and income. No one is turned away for inability to pay. We also accept most private insurances.

Adult Health Services Clinic

Adult Health Services Clinic is for individuals whom are 11 years of age or older. This clinic operates on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Appointments are required. More....

Childhood Immunization Clinic

Our Childhood Immunization Clinic serves children ages 2 months to 12 years old.  All recommended and required immunizations for infants, toddlers and school aged children are available. More...

Prenatal Clinic

No expectant parent should have to go without prenatal care. The Prenatal Clinic offers affordable prenatal care for expectant parents who are uninsured, underinsured or on Medicaid.  Our Prenatal Clinic is by appointment only on Thursday mornings. More....

The Union County Health Department offers clinic services for both men and women to safeguard their sexual health. STI testing, Annual Exams and Birth Control are a few examples of the services provided by this clinic.  More....

Prenatal Clinic

baby feetNo person should have to go without prenatal care.  That is why the Union County Health Department's Prenatal Clinic specializes in providing prenatal care to families facing financial, social or personal barriers to receiving care. We feel so strongly every unborn baby deserves early and comprehensive prenatal care that no Union County, Ohio resident is turned away for inability to pay at the Prenatal Clinic. We welcome families of all types and act as a partner in giving your baby the best possible start to life. 

Our clinic offers comprehensive prenatal care including routine visits with a health provider, nutrition counseling, smoking cessation assistance, and other services. The clinic also links individuals to resources that will be much needed after the baby is born. These resources include newborn home visits, breastfeeding support, nutrition assistance and child development screenings.

 

Make an Appointment

To set up your intake appointment with the Prenatal Clinic, call 937-645-2059. The Prenatal Clinic is on Thursdays mornings by appointment only. We accept Medicaid plans such as CareSource, Molina, etc as well as most private insurances. If you are uninsured or underinsured, we provide a sliding fee scale for services.
